Post by: BethieWethie909 on March 29, 2021, 08:10:44 PM
The family of Jim Henderson has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Jim was born in May 1939 and passed in February 2021. Jim was 82 years old at the time of his passing.

Jim served in the U.S. Army from December 1962 to Dec 1964, during the Vietnam War. His rank was Spec 5 at the time of his honorable discharge from military service. Along with regular citations, Jim also received a “Letter of Appreciation” during a Presential visit at White Sands Missile Range.

As a civilian, Jim worked for the Riverside Unified School District Maintenance for 40 years.

Jim leaves behind his wife of 54 years Marie Henderson, son Ivan, daughter Cheri, sister Judy Hoeft and nine grandchildren. I lead a mission for Judy Hoeft’s husband when he passed recently.

The Preston & Simons Mortuary has confirmed the request for Military Honors and Flag for our hero as he makes his way to his final resting place. We will meet the family at the staging area at RNC.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. Please respect the rules of the cemetery as we are guests at the Riverside National Cemetery.

NOTE: Please observe the latest COVID-19. Face coverings are required.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
