Jerry R. Chavez Sr, 71, USN, Whittier/Riverside - 09 OCT 13
« on: October 04, 2013, 09:00:24 PM »
The family of Jerry Ronald Chavez Sr., 71, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in the accompaniment and services of their loved one and to honor this American Hero; we are honored to do so.

Mr. Chavez enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October, 1960. He served as a Medic and attained the rank of E3. He was honorably discharged in December, 1962.

In civilian life he worked for Lockheed for 20 years as a machinist. His passion was being a sports fan but particularly UCLA football.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2012 and is survived by his sons, Jerry, Andrew, John, Thaddeus and two daughters Caroline and Lucia. He also has 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the funeral services to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

RNC ONLY: Park your bikes on E. Normandy, east of the first circle on the south side of the street, adjacent to Sections 28 and 42.  They should park with the front wheels pointed toward the circle.  When they roll out to go to the service, they should go back to the first circle and head in whatever direction they need to get to the shelter.

Please enter quietly as service will be in progress.

It will be hot so carry plenty of water /Gatorade.

Under the leathers and behind the shades

is a thumping, not of horsepower,

But determination of heart for our brothers, sisters and families

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car)
