The friends of Douglas Penn have invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Doug was born on 1 April 1938 and entered into Eternal Rest on 14 January 2020, he was 81 years of age.

He joined the US Army and served from 25 September 1961 to 24 September 1967, transferring to the reserves on 1 November 1965.  He was trained as a Commercial Artist.

After his training at Fort Ord, CA, Doug was sent overseas to Germany.  He was a member of the US Army football team in Germany.  Doug earned the National Defense Service Medal.  At the time of his discharge, Doug achieved the rank of Private First Class.

After serving in the Army, Doug worked for the West Covina School District and Lordon Management. Doug retired from Lordon Management in 2007.

Doug coached in the Pomona Little League as well as other sports.  He loved tennis, golf, fishing, hiking, skiing, and watching football.
Exercise was Doug's first love. 1000 sit-ups a day, exercise at Cal Poly gym, running track at the University, & finished with bicycle riding 25+ miles.  This was almost his daily routine.

Douglas was never married, and has outlived all of his family members.  There is a request for pallbearers, and it would be greatly appreciated if you could attend this mission so we can accommodate this request.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero.

Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
