The Family of SrA Lauren T. Delaney, 24, and the US Air Force have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their Hero from the funeral home to the airport for her return to her home state of Illinois, it will be our honor to do so.

SrA Lauren Delaney was born on January 19, 1997, in Chicago Heights, IL and passed away on February 7, 2021 at Antelope Valley Hospital in Palmdale, CA, from complications due to an outpatient procedure.

Lauren was a Senior Airman in the United States Air Force, where she was a Bioenvironmental Engineer stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Lauren enlisted in the USAF in October 2017, after attending Olivet Nazarene University. In October 2020, Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Lauren was a natural athlete and from a young age excelled at several sports including soccer, basketball, softball, tennis, track, karate, and volleyball. Her favorite sport was hockey, where she played on several competitive travel teams.

In her free time, Lauren enjoyed reading, hiking, traveling, volunteering, listening to music, and enjoying a strong cup of coffee. Lauren was an active volunteer with Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) and Homes 4 Vets.

Surviving are her parents, Scott and Sandy Delaney, siblings, Andrew and Nicole Hamann and Krysta and Mark Farina. Also surviving are her grandparents Chester and Pat Delaney; aunts and uncles: Steve Delaney, Daniel Delaney, Doug Delaney, and Roger & Jared Delaney, Sheri & Ed Gorman, Suzie Wiedl, and Kip Wiedl; and cousins; Ashley & Ben Murry, Ryan & Tara Gerberding, and Anna Delaney. Lauren is preceded in death by her grandparents; Ken and Carol Wiedl and her Aunt; Kim Delaney Hicks.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to the airport, approx 76 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the airport, we will meet you there.

This mission involves an aircraft arrival. Arrival times can change at the last minute so please check this thread for any last minute changes before leaving.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
