The family of Viola May Daigle has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for her service to her country.   It will be our privilege to do so.

Viola joined the US Army on 6 April 1944 and was honorably discharged 18 May 1948. Viola served in the Philippines and received the following decorations: Asiatic Pacific Medal, European African Medal, Eastern Campaign Medal, Victory Medal WWII, Philippine Liberation Medal.

After leaving the military she became an anesthesiologist at Balboa Hospital until her retirement from the fleet reserves in 1973.

Viola’s interests included gardening her roses in Chula Vista where she resided for many years. Her husband was the cook in the family, as she never used a knife, pot, or pan. Viola was still driving at 92 years young. She loved her country and was very patriotic. She collected numerous official space shuttle patches. She donated to the good of veteran & community causes.

Viola had no children & survived her husband Richard Daigle, who passed in 1973. Viola died at 102 years young.

Viola was close friends with Patriotic Guard rider Didier Jantz

Didier is asking the PGR to ride with him & take Viola's urn to Miramar. We're hopeful that she can ride in the PGR trailer.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and her family to the cemetery approx 22 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Every PGR member is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).
