The family of PO1 Roy Lee Dobbs has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.
 
Roy joined the Marines in 1968, served in Vietnam in 1968 & 69. He stayed in the Marines until 1973 & was discharged & then he enlisted in the Navy. He served with VMFA-225 Vikings as an Aviation Ordnance. He served on the USS Ranger as Aviation Ordnance. He retired in 1988 with 20 years served at the rank of 1st Class Petty Officer.

After Roy’s retirement he went to work as a civil service contractor at the 32nd. St. Naval station career center, at the same time he was pursuing his degree in English at San Diego State Univ. He graduated with honors in 1998.

After graduating he went to work for the Department of Veterans Affairs in San Diego as a Veterans service representative. In 2000 He took a lead position as the VSA abroad as a GS13 & lead VA Services in the United Kingdom.

He did the same job in Japan for 2 more years. His job was helping service members transition to civilian life. He was very passionate about helping Vets get their maximum benefits.
 
Roy was very passionate about literature & spent all his free time meeting authors, reading books & writing his own short stories.

Roy passed away at 70 years old of cancer & other complications related to agent orange exposure.

Roy is survived by his spouse, Consuelo. Sons William, Robert & daughters, Melonie, & Aimee & 6 grandchildren.

The family has asked the PGR to ride with them from the Greenwood Cemetery to MNC. We will have a motor patrol escort with us. He will receive military honors with the Marine Corps.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family to the cemetery approx 14 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL COVID REQUIREMENT MUST BE FOLLOWED, FACE COVERINGS REQUIRED AND 6 FT DISTANCING.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Every PGR member is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).
