The family of David E. McNay, 91, USAF & Air Force Reserve, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the service of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It is our honor to do so.

David McNay proudly served in the USAF from August 15, 1952 to September 30, 1956 and continued his service in the USAF Reserves from September 30, 1956 and served until September 30, 1970. David flew AT6 airplanes, T-33 trainers and F-86 fighter jets. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service.  David achieved the rank of Captain.

David worked at Autonetics (A division of North American Aviation that produced various avionics but is best known for their inertial navigation systems used in submarines and intercontinental ballistic missiles). He also worked at Ford Aerospace (The aerospace and defense division of Ford Motor Company), where he designed and was a test pilot for their hovercraft. David designed the ducted fan blades used in the air-cushion vehicles or ACVs being used today.  David worked for McDonnell Douglas as an Aerospace Engineer, where he designed and sold aircraft. He traveled around the world selling the DC-10 for McDonnell Douglas. David worked with NASA and designed some of the first parts made for jet aircraft out of carbon fiber filament.

David held a Master’s degree in electronics and thermal dynamics from Mississippi State College and Perdue University. He loved Peruvian Paso horses and spent many years with them at his ranch in Redlands.

David is survived by his sons Allan (Debbi), Larry, and Mark, and his grandchildren, Heather & Jennifer.
