The family and the US Air Force have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their Hero, Lt Col Aaron M. Frey, age 42, from the funeral home to the airport as he travels home to his family in Colorado. We are honored to do so.

Lt Col Aaron M. Frey USAF, 42, of Evergreen, Colo, he was killed tragically on 5 July 2021 in a vehicle accident in California.

Lt Col Frey, was assigned to the 370th Flight Test Squadron located at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. He served as an F-16 Test Pilot instructor for USAF Test Pilot School and an F-35 Test Pilot for the 461st Flight Test Squadron at Edwards. He was known by his call sign "Amber".

Frey joined the Marine Corps in 2004, and deployed to Afghanistan twice during his 16 years in the Corps. While still a Marine he graduated from the Air Force Test Pilot School and was assigned to the 461st FLTS. He joined the Air Force Reserve about a year ago.

All those who knew him have great memories of him, just one example: “He was the happiest person around and made everyone’s life brighter.” Edwards Air Force Base officials said in a statement. “He had the most recognizable radio voice that brought smiles to all who heard him talk on the radio.”

Others said Amber was a loving husband, father of 2 kiddos, a wingman, friend, warrior, and talented Airman.

He leaves behind a wife and two children and many other family members, friends, and fellow Airmen and Marines, his military family.  He will be sorely missed by all and never forgotten.
