Per Mike Yirka from American Legion Post 574, Moreno Valley, he has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of William Morrell McGregor as he makes his final journey.

William has no family and it will be our honor to stand as his family.

William was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on 19 October 1930 and entered into Eternal Rest on 17 October 2020, just two days prior to his ninetieth birthday.

William was the only son of William and Lala McGregor. William never married and had no children.

William graduated from Corona High School in 1948 where he excelled in his classes and athletics as well as being the Senior Class President.

William was in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. He received his training at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi, and worked as an Airborne Radar Repairman. William’s awards/citations included the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He served almost two years with the U.S. Air Force 6400th C & E Maint Squadron in Korea. At the time of his honorable discharge, he was a Staff Sergeant(T) stationed at Parks Air Force Base, Dublin, California.

William attended the University of California, Riverside(UCR) and wrote his Senior Thesis on the Cahan Decision and the Exclusionary Rule. He graduated from UCR in 1956 with high honors receiving his degree in the division of Social Sciences. He was a world traveler, a published photographer, and a published writer.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the American Legion Post 574, Moreno Valley to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

1015 – Flag line as our Hero is moved to the vehicle for transport.

1015 – KSU to Riverside National Cemetery, (Staging Area #4 for family, north of Staging Area #2 for PGR) 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside    https://goo.gl/maps/ecamDdsieQSbjfQk7   

1045 – KSU to the assigned Shelter for Flag line, Service, and Military Honors or as allowed by the Cemetery Rep.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.
