The PGR has been invited to honor this Hero, Everard R. Nelson, at his funeral, we will be honored to do so.

Sometimes missions come to us from other than ordinary means, such is the case with this one.  Mr. Nelson was living alone and was befriended by the gentleman who approached us, Terry Ruiz.  Mr. Ruiz and another friend checked in on him and made sure he was ok and didn't need anything.  When Mr. Nelson passed away July, 10, 2016, his surviving sister back east was contacted and Mr. Ruiz has been waiting for her to come out here to California to bury him.  She has now told Mr. Ruiz to go ahead with the burial, she will not be able to make the trip.

Everard Nelson enlisted in the US Navy on August 18, 1960 and served honorably until his discharge on August 17, 1964 as a RM3 (Radioman 3rd Class Petty Officer)

After the military Mr. Nelson worked as a stockbroker and owned his own home, but led a solitary life for the most part.

He is survived by 1 sister and 1 step-sister, who will not be attending the service.

The friend Mr. Ruiz tells us that only 2 or 3 people will be showing up and has asked the PGR to stand as his "family", we will be honored to do so.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
