The family of Sgt. Henry C. Torres, 89, has requested the Patriot Guard Riders in honoring their beloved father, grandfather, great grand father AND great great grandfather. It shall be our pleasure to do so.

He was a native of Corpus Christi, TX  entering life on 02 April 29 and passing over on 06 July 18.

Upon graduation from the local high school in Corpus Christi, our hero, and two of his friends enlisted into the USMC in July of 1947. They were part of the “Texas Platoon” because of the high volume of young men enlisting from the Lone Star state. Together they became known as the Three Musketeers.

Torres served as an administrative Marine in Hawaii while his two buddies were sent to Guam. But fate brought the 3 back together in Barstow, CA and upon their discharge they all stayed as civilian employees at USMC Logistics Base for a combination of over 60 years. They all remained in the High Desert City following their retirements and remained tight friends.

Mr Torres enjoyed eating, watching tennis, the Dodgers and the Dallas Cowboys (while his wife liked the Rams).

Henry and his deceased wife Rosalie were parents to four children: Martin, Rudy, Gloria and Diane. He had one surviving sister, Olivia Martinez. He had 9 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church services to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

NOTE: If you wish to meet us at the cemetery please use caution driving Irwin Rd from First Ave as the road is very rough. It will be hot and maybe humid this day. Stay hydrated before, during and after. Ride safely.
