The PGR has been invited by the family of Manuel Oropeza Mercado, 83, Montebello, to be present for his funeral and final military honors. It is our honor and privilege to do so.

Manuel Mercado was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was enlisted from 11/5/1961 to 8/31/1967, and honorably discharged at the rank of PFC.

Following his honorable service, Manuel  worked as a production manager at a clutch company for 30 yrs until he suffered a heart attack.

His hobbies included spending time with family, going to casinos, finding great deals, and watching fireworks.

The Mercados are one proud military family. Their dad instilled in them the values of God, family, & country.  His son, as well as 4 of his grandchildren, also served in the military, following in his footsteps  His daughters married military men.

The PGR recently attended services for Manuel's son, Daniel Mercado, on 9/15, at Los Angeles National Cemetery. Our attendance brought him to tears. Manuel subsequently passed on 10/13...the family thinks from a broken heart.

He is survived by his wife Maria Elena Mercado, three children--Doralina Tichy,  Diana Huff & Manuel Mercado Jr. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.
