The family of Agent Jose Contreras Jr., age 43, and the US Border Patrol, have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor him with a Flag Line at the cemetery as he is laid to rest, we will be honored to do so.

Agent Jose Contreras Jr. had served as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent for nearly 20 years when he passed away unexpectedly.  He served since September, 2002, proudly and with great courage during all those years.  His partner on the USBP for 16 years was a PGR member and close friend who initially reached out to us to be there to honor him.  He was highly respected in the Department by all those that worked with him.

Prior to becoming a Border Patrol Agent, Jose also served in the U.S. Marine Corps from June of 1996 to June of 2000 when he was honorably discharged.  One of the Marines who served with him says "Sergeant Jose Contreras was one of the best Marines I had the privilege and honor to serve with. I do not say that lightly. He was not a good garrison Marine or a good field Marine, Jose was a Marines Marine! He loved the Corps, and was one of those Marines you could go to for anything."

Jose was a great man, others have said "Jose Contreras was a great son, brother , nephew, uncle and cousin anyone could ever have, he had such a big heart. His smile just made everyone’s day much brighter. He loved and enjoyed his family he was such a family guy who truly enjoyed every minute and moment of life."

Agent Contreras is survived by his wife and many other family members and friends and his Border Patrol family.  He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero and Military Veteran.
