The family of Patrick Metoyer, 84, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their hero on his final journey.  It is our privilege to fulfill their request.

Patrick Metoyer became a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department in 1966 and retired in 1992 as a Detective 3.  He received the Medal of Valor, the highest state award given to individual Police Officers and Firefighters who have distinguished themselves by bravery, heroism, or other outstanding meritorious actions beyond the normal demands of protection service.

His pastimes included woodworking, golfing, and traveling.  He also enjoyed making homemade biscuits with his family, a tradition that is carried on today.

Our hero is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Norma Metoyer; son, Patrick Metoyer, Jr, (also in law enforcement); four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by brother David Metoyer, a Vietnam Purple Heart Combat Veteran, and sister, Donna Gonzalez.  His brother, Michael Metoyer, preceded our hero in death: a casualty of war, 04/30/69, Purple Heart.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to the cemetery, approximately eight miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.  For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
