Dawud Akil, 58, USMC - MoVal/RNC - 21 December, 2022
« on: December 19, 2022, 01:52:52 AM »
The family of Dawud Akil, 58, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in the military honors of this hero.  We are honored to fulfill this request.

Our hero served in the United States Marine Corps for four years and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.  He was stationed at Camp Lejeune for 12 months and it is suspected that his passing is connected to the time he spent there.

Dawud served in the USMC from July 1983 to December 1991.  After he left the Marines, Dawud worked as an entrepreneur in startup corporations and worked in the insurance industry.  He enjoyed public speaking and playing golf.  He also was involved with the VA in helping veterans with information and paperwork.

Dawud is survived by his wife of 16 years, Linda, and has a blended family of nine children, fourteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.  He also leaves behind his siblings, Tanya and Derrick.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to the cemetery, approximately six miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
