The family of Michael Allen Sandys has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in their hero’s final journey. We are honored to fulfill this request.

Our hero enlisted in the US Navy 4/69 and was honorably discharged 11/72 at the rank of RD3. During his enlistment he served two tours in Vietnam aboard the USS Pritchett as a radar technician. He was discharged having earned the following awards: Three Bronz Stars, Vietnam Servicw Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Medal.

As a civilian, our hero spent 35 years with PAC BELL as a cable splicer followed by 10 years with Stater Bros. as a communications Repair Technician. Mike’s priority in life was his love for family and friends, his love for the outdoors and the Ohio State Football program and cruising the waterways on his boat “The Lady Jane”.

Our hero is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane, daughters Jamie and Jennifer, brother, Gary and four grandchildren.

Note: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this American Hero. For those interested and all PGR members are welcome. We will be accompanying the Hero and his family from the family home to the cemetery, approx. 15 miles. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. If you prefer to meet the procession at the cemetery, please feel free to do so.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
