John Everett Flowers Jr. ,76, was in the Air Force from 1966 until 1969 and transferred to the Navy, where he served from 1969 and retired at the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1989. He was a Vietnam veteran and earned the following awards: Good Conduct Medal (3), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2 Stars), Navy "E" Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (1 Star), Overseas Services Medal (3 Stars), Air Force Longevity Medal, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Insignia, Command Chief Badge, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Upon retirement from the military, John went to work for the United Postal Service for over 20 years and then retired for the second time. He and his wife Sandra got married just two weeks after meeting, but enjoyed over 55 years together until John’s passing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and his church. He also loved his country and family!
