The family of Steven Gregory Schlenz, 68 yrs old, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present for his funeral service and honor him for his service to our country, we would be honored to do so.

Steven "Steve" Schlenz was inducted into the US Army on October 22, 1969, shortly after graduating from High School.  He served in the Vietnam War and earned the following medals, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. Steve was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4 on October 14, 1971.

After serving in the military Steve held various jobs, he was an electrician, a painter, he built awnings, had a carpet cleaning business and finally found a permanent job with the San Bernardino School District in their maintenance department.  There he was known by faculty and students as Mr. Steve and won awards for having the most sparkling clean schools in the district. Steve was the same way about his yard, he loved gardening and making sure his yard looked perfect. One of his favorite pastimes was going four-wheeling with his children and friends, who are going to miss him very much.

Steve is survived by his mother Gwendolyn Young, his daughter Kristen Schlenz,  two grandsons Ryan Walker Jr. and Jeremiah Walker. Two brothers David Walstead and Robert Walstead. Four sisters, Elizabeth Buskirk, Melodie Armour, Marion Stringer and Barbara Walstead and his friend and mother of his daughter Toni Everett.
