The family of Harold Leroy Goode, 84, has invited the PGR to participate in honoring his life and service to his country. It will be a privilege to do so.

Roy, which is what his family and friends called him, passed away quietly at home in Riverside, California on February 11th with loved ones by his side.

Roy graduated from Polytechnic high school in Riverside, California in 1954 and he went directly into the US Navy.  There he served from 1954-58 MNSN and then in the Reserves from 1958-61 USNR-R. He was also a Veteran of Foreign Wars.

Roy worked as an Auto Machinist for over 40 years and taught classes for Automotive Machinist and Engine Rebuilding at Crafton Hills College from 1977-1980.

He found some lifelong friends through his greatest pastime which included: deep sea fishing with the ‘Riverside Ocean Angler's’; Camping with the ‘Smiler-A-Milers'; and car shows with the ‘Old Farts Racing Team’.

The membership that meant the most to him was while serving at the American Legion Post 79, where he was the post commander. He enjoyed participating in their community service works.

Roy attended Harvest Christian Fellowship for over 15 yrs. His love for fellowman and service was demonstrated in many ways. One of them was the act of blood donation. He was O-Negative, which made him a universal donor and he donated for over 13 years which equaled to more than 23 gallons. When he could no longer give whole blood, he donated his platelets, a process that takes over 2 hours for each donation. Even upon his death, Roy was still giving as he was a tissue and organ donor.

Roy is survived by his daughter Lisa Blythe (Dennis), his daughter-in-law Sharon Mordetzky-Goode, and companion Chrestine Alfaro and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Carolyn Goode, his sons Jeffery Goode and Timothy Goode.
