!!! UPDATE !!! INITIAL STAGING LOCATION CHANGED - SEE UPDATED TIME TABLE BELOW !!!

The family of John Lyle Montgomery has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to be present to honor their Hero for his service to his Country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Lyle, as he was known to family and friends, proudly served in the US Army July 3, 1951 to June 1, 1958.  He fought in the Korean War honorably earning a Good Conduct Medal, National Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Presidential Unit Korean medal and two Bronze stars.  He was proud of his service and participation for his country. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.

Lyle attended all of his schooling in San Diego and was in the Choir and ROTC program.  He graduated in 1951 from Kearney High School. After his military service, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in San Diego.  In 1972, he moved to Hawaii to work in construction for his brother, Claude.  He later went to work for the Catholic Charities of Hawaii. He lived in Hawaii for 40 years and loved the islands.

Lyle was very proud of his Scottish heritage and you would always see him wear the Montgomery tartan colors. Lyle was easy going, a voracious reader, very intelligent. He never judged but was always loving, always giving and never asking for anything in return.

Lyle was a very respected man and will be missed by all his friends in Hawaii, and his family.

Lyle is survivived by his brother Claude and wife Wanda of Comanche, Ok.  Niece and caregiver Shirlene and husband Kendall Whittington of Medford, Ok, Nephews  Eddy Montgomery and wife Fonda of Marlow, Ok and Ralph Montgomery Jr of Medford, Ok as well as many other great great nieces and nephews and cousins. He is being interred at Ft Rosecrans National Cemetery where many of his family is interred including his parents and 2 brothers and others.
