The family of Roman A. Diaz has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.

It will be our honor to do so.

Roman was born in Los Angeles on 09 August 1922 and entered into Eternal Rest on 01 October 2019.

Roman, a member of our “Greatest Generation” was in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 serving during World War II as a Medic (Surgical Technician). Roman received his Medical Tech training at the Beaumont General Hospital (which is now the Beaumont Army Medical Center) in El Paso, Texas prior to his deployment to the European Theater. Some of Roman’s awards/citations included the Silver Star with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Bronze Star, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Roman saw combat in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was also involved in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.

After the military, Roman worked for the Postal Service for thirty-five years.

Roman was very active in umpiring baseball games, spending time with his grandchildren and going to Dodger games.  Prior to his passing, he went to and was an Honored Military Veteran at a Dodger game on 22 September 2019.

Roman was a widower, survived by his daughter, Terri and brother Daniel. He also leaves behind many loving family members.
