The family of Richaard S. Twomey, 69, USMC, Vietnam VET, have invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor their loved one at his final service.  We are honored to accept this invitation.

Mr. Twomey, served in the Marine Corps from 6/20/66-4/1/69 and reached the rank of Lance Corporal while stationed in Hawaii.

Mr. Twomey served in the Vietnam War and suffered from PTSD.

He was one of the founding fathers of BMX racing. His team was called Rick's Bike Shop. He was inducted in to the BMX Hall of Fame in November 2006. He is fondly know as the Godfather of BMX.                       

He coached his daughters in softball for 10 years.

His 55 Chevy Nomad was his pride and joy. He enjoyed going to car shows. He was a member of the Ventura Chevy's,Classic Chevy and Rod Father car clubs for many years. He is a life time member of the VFW and Marine Corp League.

He survived by his wife Patti, Daughter's Laurie, Crissie and April. Son in laws Mike and Todd. He was the proud grandpa to 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He has been cremated. There will be nothing held at the mortuary.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday October 22 at 11am. A chaplain from the VFW will be speaking. There will also be a color guard and 21 gun salute.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome.  This will be a Service and Military Honors only.  Please see the time table if you would like to participate

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
