The family of Sgt Miguel Ortiz, 27, of Vista, CA has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their fallen Hero.

Sgt Ortiz was one of four Marines killed while on duty at Camp Pendleton on Wednesday, 13 NOV 13.

Sgt Miguel Ortiz, 27, of Vista, Calif., was an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton. He joined the Marine Corps in March 2006, and was promoted to his current rank in November 2009. Ortiz's awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal and NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan. Sgt Ortiz is remembered by his brother Marines as being very good at his job, very safe, someone who loved being a Marine.  He is remembered by his family and friends as being a great man, great husband and father, great son and a great friend.

Miguel grew up in Oceanside and met his wife Susie when they were 14 yr old freshmen at El Camino High School.  He was the kind of guy who made mickey mouse pancakes for his kids and handmade cards for his wife.  He loved sports, especially the San Diego Chargers, liked playing poker and enjoyed playing X-Box with the family.

Sgt Ortiz is survived by his wife Susie, and 3 children, Isabel, 9, Andrew 6 and Miguel Jr 3, his parents Alma and Aurelio Ortiz, two sisters, and many other family members.
