The family of LtCol Joseph John Haas has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in the services of their loved one and to honor this American Hero. We are honored to do so.
LtCol Haas enlisted in the Air Force on April 6, 1954 and went to Lackland AFB where he tested and was accepted for Aviation Cadets. LtCol Haas received flight training on the PA-18, T-6, and B-25. He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant and received his flight wings on December 5, 1955. Upon completion of flight training, LtCol Haas transferred to Randolph AFB for training on the B-29 followed by training on the GRB-36J at Fairchild AFB. He then went on to March AFB in 1956 and logged 2000 hours in the B-47 as a copilot and aircraft commander.
LtCol Haas left active duty in April of 1963 and joined the 195th Military Airlift Squadron at Van Nuys to fly the C-97. In early 1970 the Wing converted to the C-130A and he transferred to the 115th Tactical Airlift Squadron. LtCol Haas left Van Nuys in 1976, joining the Air Force Reserve and became the head of C-130 Airlift Management at Scott AFB. During this time, he received his qualification as an Air Force One reserve standby Captain. LtCol Haas retired from military service in April 1987. After LtCol Haas left active duty, he flew B-707 and B-747 for Pan American World Airways followed by time as a pilot with United Airlines where he flew the B-747, B-757, B-767, and DC-10. He retired from flying on April 6, 2001 with over 27,000 hours total flying time and 33 total years of service.
Joseph is survived by three siblings: Richard, Sue, and Lorraine; 5 children: Carey, Kristi, Scott, Mark, and Joanna; and grandchildren Matthew and Jarred.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car)
