Jimmie was born in Glendale, CA on July 5, 1944.   At 17 Jimmie he joined the Naval Reserves during the Vietnam War.  At age 18 he was flown to Japan for deployment on the USS Coral Sea Aircraft Carrier.  The last four months of his deployment he served on the USS Hornet (CVS-12) where he earned the rank of E2.  He was a boiler room helper.  He served a total of approximately 3½ years with sea service of almost 2 years.

Jimmie married his high school sweetheart, Linda Tolley.  They spent 59½ years together.  Jimmie came to the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 29.  He then attended Tennessee Temple College.  He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist College earning his B.A. Degree and was ordained to the ministry.

Later in Jimmie’s life, he worked for SCI and Lowen Group Cemetery/Mortuaries, establishing and training employees in family services in different parts of California.

Jimmie leaves behind his wife Linda and their three children, Susan, James, and Jason.  He also leaves behind six grandchildren: Andrew, Lauren, Megan, Jacob, Micah, and Lukas, as well as three great grandchildren: Brantley, Logan, and Baby Newman to be born, and nieces and nephews.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his father William Newman, his mother Bobbie Newman, his sister Rhonda Newman-Green and his granddaughter Rachel Newman.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our heroes.  No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum.  Observe the 15 MPH speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
