PART 2

The United States Army and family of SSG Matthew I. Casciato, 31, have requested the Patriot Guard Riders accompany their hero from the funeral home to the cemetery for military honors.  We are privileged to participate.

SSG Casciato was serving with the 239th FSC 1-3 FAR 17th FAB out of the Joint Base Lewis-McCord (JBLM), Washington at the time of his passing.

Matthew was born in Tomsk, Russia.  He was adopted by his loving parents at the age of 12.  He learned the English language, completed high school, and joined the Army in 2015.  He enjoyed being in the Army, traveling to other countries, and training his fellow soldiers.  His favorite pastimes were spending time with his German Shepherd, Rex, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with family and friends.

Matthew is survived by his parents, two sisters, and his loving wife.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the funeral home to the cemetery, approximately 15 miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.  For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a veteran or ride a motorcycle to attend this mission.  All PGR members are welcome.  We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car (cage).  If this will be your first mission, go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed by the Ride Captain (RC).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a car.  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes.  No talk, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service.  Please keep all radios off and engine noise to a minimum.    Observe the 15 MPH cemetery speed limit.  Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground.  Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
