The family of Gary Harlan Forston has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

Gary was born and raised in Fresno with 15 children in the family.

Gary served both in the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps. Gary was in the Army from April 1954 to April 1956. A few months later he enlisted in the Corps in July of 1956 and served until June 1960. Five years later, he again went into the Marine Corps in December 1965 and served honorably until January 1980. Gary was the recipient of the Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam. He retired as a Staff Sergeant (E-6) having served over twenty years.

After the military, Gary became a Federal Police Officer in Fresno County. He was a sketch artist for the Police.

Gary’s hobbies included sketching, painting, being a cartoonist and cooking, as he also went to Chef School. He loved to sing and dance to all the Big Band Oldies and loved to fly private airplanes.

Gary is survived by his daughter Vicki, his brothers Gerald, Jimmy and Mickey and sister Beverly. His wife, Mary Forston predeceased him.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
