The family of William Harold Lantzer has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Bill proudly served his country, in the United States Army, from December 1947 through September 1952. He served in the occupation of Japan for one year and served during the Korean War earning the Korean Service Medal.

Bill was discharged in November 1948 and immediately re-inlisted into the Regular Army, and was then transferred to Japan for occupation duty. Bill was stationed in Japan for one year during which he was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal for Japan. In March 1950, he was transferred to the Army Reserve as a Private First Class at Fort Lawton, Washington. Then, in September 1950, he re-enlisted in the Army and transferred to Korea where he served for five months.  He was awarded the following medals:  Korean Service Medal with 2/stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.  He was transferred to the Army Reserve in September 1951 as a Corporal, and was honorably discharged in September 1952.

After his service to his country, Bill worked as a machinist for the Cleveland Press and the Lake County Ohio Water Department.  He was an avid golfer.

Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gloria of San Diego, his son Daryl of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, daughter Debi of North Port, Florida, a grandson, and a great grandson.
