The family of Col Ismail Halabi, 73, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to honor him for his military service.  It is our honor to do so.
 
Col Halabi proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1991 - 2012 until his retirement as a Colonel.  Col Halabi was a USAF Flight Surgeon.  He was also a member of the space shuttle recovery team.  During his service, he earned the following decoration Medals:  Operation Desert Storm/Shield, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Deep Freeze.
 
Col Halabi was born in Syria.  He graduated from Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel, Germany, in 1976, specializing in family medicine.  After his retirement from the Air Force, he became a family medicine specialist at March Air Reserve Base, practicing for 44 years. He is survived by his wife, Jutta, two daughters and three sons.
 
Note: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  For those interested, and all are welcome, please see the timetable if you would like to participate.  We will be accompanying the Hero from the mortuary to the cemetery; a distance of approximately 14 miles.  If you cannot accompany this Hero, please consider meeting us at the Cemetery with a flag line as the hero arrives.

1100 – Flag line as our Hero is brought from the Church to the awaiting coach

1145 – Flag line as our Hero is moved from the coach to the shelter

PLEASE NOTE:  Rain is in the forecast with temperatures in the low to mid 50’s.  Please make extra travel time to any part of this mission, dress accordingly and get plenty of sleep.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
