The family of John Douthit, has requested the Patriot Guard to pay Honors to this American Hero. It will be our privilege to do so.

John was born August 1, 1947. From Johns youngest days he always was a person who cared for people .. He always had a giving spirit, for helping others.

Once John finished High School he wanted to become a United States Marine. John went into the Marines May 27, 1965. John finished boot camp and received his orders to deploy to Vietnam.

During Johns time in the Marines he earned the Vietnam Campaign Service Medal with 1 star, Purple Heart for injuries received while in Combat, National Defense Service Medal, Rifle sharpshooter medal. Good conduct Medal.

John received his Honorable Discharge on April 1, 1969 at the rank of  Sgt. ( E-5). Johns service to his fellow man were not done yet.

John joined the ranks of Santa Ana's finest Police Dept. where he worked serving the community for another
32 yrs.

As if that wasn't enough when John retired from the Police Dept., he joined the VFW, and also volunteered full time with the staff of the Veterans Hospital to help out fellow Veterans. John attained the rank of Commander of the 2nd District with the Veterans of Foreign War.

When John finally took some time off, he became an avid golfer. John was never one to quit.

On Jan. 1, 2017 the Good Lord decided it was time for John to rest, and called him home.
