The family of Richard Guerrero Saldivar has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.

Mr. Saldivar proudly served our country in the United States Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during WWII from September 1943 through December 1945.  Upon his honorable discharge, Mr. Saldivar had attained the rank of Seaman First Class.  During his service, he served upon 3 different LCIs (Landing Craft Infantry), and while serving on USS LCI (G) 440 he participated in 8 invasions.

After serving his nation in the Navy, as a civilian employee, Mr. Saldivar continued his service to our country for 30 years as a Portable Equipment Repairman, Aircraft Metal Fabricator, and Sheet Metal Mechanic.  In 1967, while working at North Island Naval Air Station, he volunteered to go to Da Nang, Vietnam to repair aircraft in country.

When Richard retired, he traveled extensively with his wife of 47 years Consuelo.  Together, in their RV, they visited every state in the continental United States, including Alaska.

Richard is survived by 6 sons, 4 daughters. 49 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.  One of his daughters, Olga Noel and her husband, are Patriot Guard Riders in the Atlanta, GA area.

Richard’s family has requested accompaniment from the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection, Escondido to the Oak Hill Memorial Park, Escondido, a distance of approximately 4 miles.  The family is providing professional motor escorts for this procession.
