The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Seferino S. Varela to accompany him from Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church located in Whittier to Riverside National Cemetery for military honors.   It will be our privilege to do so.

Seferino S. Varel served the United States Army and was inducted in June of 1959.He reached the rank of private (E-2) before his honorable discharge from active duty in May 1961. While in the service, he achieved the sharpshooter metal for the carbine.

After his discharge, Seferino worked for 25 years with the Southern California Gas Company. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, including many different sports, including camping, hunting, traveling, and fishing.

Seferino is survived by his wife Alicia, two children, Sebastian and Veronica, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Note: This notice is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.  We will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there. You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission.  Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car.  If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
