The family of Theron V.Page has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so

Theron was born on November 17, 1923 in Magna, Utah.  He was the second child of seven children born to Arden and Causetta Page.  He had four brothers and two sisters.

At the age of six, his family moved to the Los Angeles area (Lomita, Gardena & Baldwin Park) where they resided over the next five years.  At the age of 11, his father landed a job in Trona so he relocated his family there where they lived for the next six years.  At the age of 16, Theron’s family moved to Glendale, California because his father landed a job with the Glendale Steam Plant.

On July 19, 1941, at the age of 17, Theron enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in Los Angeles, California and served until his Honorable Discharge on April 10, 1945.  After MCRD training in San Diego, Theron was trained as a high-speed radio operator – and at the conclusion of his training he was assigned to various battalions’ in the pacific theater during WWII.  He participated in action against the enemy during invasions of New Caledonia, Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Emirau Island, Guam Marianas Islands and Peleliu Islands.  His awards included: Asiatic Pacific Campaign W/4 Stars, Navy Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Marine Corps Overseas Service, Navy Sea Service – Destroyer U.S.S. Saufley & U.S.S. Appalachian, Navy Marine Corps Medal, Marine-Corps Good Conduct Medal and WW-II Victory Ribbon and Medal.

Sometime after his discharge from the USMC, Theron landed a job with the LA Department of Water and Power – and was assigned to the remote San Francisquito Power Plant 1 near Santa Clarita.  There he met the love and soul mate of his life, Virginia Ida Emma Shultz whom had recently traveled to California from Sheboygan, WI to assist with caring for her brother’s children where they lived on the mountaintop above the Power Plant.  Theron and Virginia were married on February 24, 1946.  After their marriage, Theron became a carpenter and soon after was promoted to the level of Superintendent.  He planned and managed many major construction projects in Southern California.

Together, Theron and Virginia raised three children - and the family enjoyed camping at National Parks and the High Sierra’s, fishing and water skiing on the Colorado River.  Sadly, Virginia passed away on September 11, 2013.  They were married for 67 ½ years.

Theron passed away peacefully at his home on January 6, 2017.  He leaves behind two sons, Theron Jr., and Steven, who is a PGR member, two daughters-in-law, Janet and Karen, 8 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.  He was pre-deceased by his wife Virginia, daughter, Gayleen Wingfield, son-in-law Raymond Wingfield - and six siblings – Arland, Wanda, Lorraine, Veldon, Quenton and Darrel.

Theron and Virginia will be laid to rest together at the Riverside National Cemetery on February 24, 2017 on what would have been their 71st anniversary.
