Roy Welty’s life ended suddenly and unexpectedly on October 26, 2019. His family has requested the presence of the PGR to honor his life and service to our country. We are honored to fulfill this request and as a friend and neighbor, I am honored to lead this mission.

Roy was born on December 5, 1948 and grew up in Long Beach, CA. He was drafted into the Army, inducted on 4 Feb. 1969 and served two years as an MP in Ft. Campbell, KY, and was honorably discharged in 1971. Roy was very proud of his service and demonstrated his pride of country by flying the American Flag in his front yard, 24/7/365.

As a civilian Roy spent the majority of his career in the oil industry working for various refineries in Southern Calif., where he received his nickname, “Bulldog”. His hobbies and interests included Woodworking, RV Camping, swimming frequently in the community pool and maintained membership in the Long Beach Rod and Gun Club.

Roy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ellen, and three children; Heather, Chris and Mary as well as 5 grandchildren.
