The family of Gunnery Sergeant William Rudolph Dewese has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor this hero for his service to his country.  It will be our privilege to do so.

Gunnery Sergeant Dewese proudly served his country, in the United States Marines, from October 1945 through November 1975.  He participated in the occupation of Japan from March 1946 through June 1946, and in the occupation of China from June 1946 through 1947.  He then was stationed in Korea following the Korean War.  Upon his retirement and honorable discharge, he had attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

William was an avid recreational gambler and particularly enjoyed playing Black Jack at the local casinos.  In his later years he enjoyed having lunch at the Oceanside Sr. Citizens Center, followed by sitting at the beach.  Mr. Dewese was predeceased by his wife of 65 years Charlotte, and is survived by his sister Geri Legato of Laeger, W. Va., his son Bruce Dewese, four grandsons, and six great grandchildren.

The family has requested an accompaniment from Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista, Ca to Riverside National Cemetery, a distance of approximately 60 miles. It is our privilege to do so.
