The family of Carlos “Chuck” Gonzalez, a Veteran of the US Army and the Vietnam War, has invited the PGR be present and honor this American Hero for his service to his country.  It will be our honor to do so.

Chuck graduated from high school in 1965 and was awarded a full scholarship to play tennis for USC.  He chose instead to attend Outward Bound Survival School to pursue a career in mountain climbing and rescue. Shortly after attending the Outward Bound Survival School Chuck entered the US Army.

While in Vietnam Chuck served as a medic with the 101st Airborne Division.  He earned a Bronze star for "Heroic or meritorious achievement or service" for risking his life to pull two fellow soldiers to safety.  At the time of his discharge Chuck was an E5.

After his military service Chuck attended Cal State University Long Beach where he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Biology.   He then joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s search and rescue team and later worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft which became Boeing Aircraft.  He retired in 2002.

For fun Chuck loved to ski, mountain climb, off road, and spend time with his nieces and nephews.  He was also an avid gun collector.

Chuck leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years, Donna, a daughter Jessica, his eldest brother and fellow Vietnam Veteran Dave, his youngest brother Tony who is a priest, and one grandson.

The family has requested a flag line ONLY at RNC.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
