The family of Bill Hotchkiss has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend the military honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.  It will be our privilege to fulfill their request.

Bill passed away at the age of 90 of natural causes. He was born 06/07/1932 and passed away on 03/28/2023.

Bill enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954, he was a E-5 2nd. class. Bill served in Korea. While in the Navy he made San Diego his permanent home.

Bill worked for Convair for a short time after leaving the Navy and was then hired by the San Diego Police Department, retiring after 26 years of service:
LIEUTENANT WILLIAM F. HOTCHKISS. SDPD 10/01/1957 - 06/16/1984.

Bill always had a smile on his face and a joke in hand.  It was so easy for him to strike up a conversation with anyone.  He enjoyed fishing and metal detecting; a talented artist he drew many portraits for family and friends.  He loved spending time in Montana and being with family.

Bill was born in Red Lodge, Montana to Edward and Edna Hotchkiss.  He is survived by Sally, his wife of 72 years and daughter Kim Foster, Granddaughters Ashlee Dominguez, and Erin Robison, four great grandchildren and extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews in Montana, Washington, and South Dakota.  Bill was predeceased by his son Randy (Patty).

Bill is the father-in-law of Dan Foster, the gentleman that runs the “Wall of Honor” in Alpine, also a friend to many PGR members.

Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
