Joseph Lee Harrison, 100, USMC, FLO/RNC, 5 May, 2023

The family of Joe Harrison has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to participate in their hero’s final journey. We are honored to fulfill this request.

Our hero from the GREATEST GENERATION joined the Marine Corps in January of 1943 and was honorably discharged in December of 1945 as a Pfc. He was a member of the Marine Raiders and, as such, was involved in 6 amphibious landings, 4 under combat fire, including landings at Bougainville, Guam, and Okinawa.

As a civilian, Joe worked as a mason contractor building everything from fireplaces to churches and employed 12 people. His last 15 years prior to retirement he spent working for Caltrans.

He is preceded in death by his wife and two sons. His wife’s cremains will accompany him. He is survived by two sons, Art, and Steve, 11 grandchildren and a “gaggle” (our POC’s word) of great grandchildren and several great greats!

Joe was very active with both the VFW and ALR in Banning. He loved spending time with family and spending time at the gym which he joined at age 89!

NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be meeting our hero and his family at his final resting place, Riverside National Cemetery. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.

If this is your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep the radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
