The family of TMC Larry "Double A" Aanderud has invited the PGR to attend his funeral service and military honors, we would be honored to do so.

TMC (Torpedoman Chief) Larry “Double A” Aanderud USN (Ret.) EOD Born on 20 April 1943 took his final dive 24 June 2018.

Born in Jamestown ND, he spent his summers being a Lifeguard, where he developed his love for the water. He joined the US Navy on 13 Sept 1961 as a Torpedoman's Mate but realized early on that he wanted to spend more time in the water. In April 1966 he joined Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD). With almost 22 years of service, and multiple tours in Vietnam, Double A was highly decorated. He was awarded 4 Navy Good Conduct Awards, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V", Silver Star Medal, 3 Navy Unit Commendations, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Silver and 3 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with "1960" Device, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Master Diver EOD Badge, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He retired as a TMC 31 October 1982, with the distinction of Master Blaster (Master Diver).

His career continued at Pt. Mugu as a Quality Assurance Specialist with the Department of Defense, until his second retirement.

He married his true love Margaret “Peggy” (His Bootiful) 12 April 1969, and recently celebrated their 49th anniversary. He was a loving Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle and Brother.  He is survived by his loving wife Peggy, 2 daughters Pamela and Paula, 2 sons Skip and Craig, and predeceased by 1 son Tracey.  Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the family home to his final resting place. Please see the time table if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
