The family of Travis Lawrence Carter, age 39, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their Hero from the mortuary to the cemetery, it will be our honor to do so.

Travis Carter enlisted in the US Navy on June 23, 2008 and honorably served as a Gunner until his discharge on February 21, 2011. He served in the Global War on Terror in Somalia. He had attained the rank of FC3 (E-4).  FC3 Carter was awarded the following medals; GWOT Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, GWOT Expeditionary Medal, Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon w/S device, Navy Rifle Marksmanship Medal w/S device, Sea Service Deployment, Service Warfare Specialist.

After serving Travis went to work for a cousin who owns an Internet business in Virginia.  He was always very involved in football, his passion. He played as a kid starting with Youth Football, all the way through High School.  After the military he also worked as a Football Coach.  He was also a lifelong fan of the Raiders.

Travis is survived by his mother Sharon, dad Kim, second mother Tanya, 5 brothers Roy, David, Joseph, Garrett and Dylan, and 2 sisters Michelle and Krista, many extended family members and friends. He will not be forgotten.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the mortuary to his final resting place, approx 23 miles. Please see the time table if you would like to participate.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
