The United States Navy and family of Tyjuan R. Mayfield, Jr, 18, have requested the Patriot Guard Riders accompany their hero from the church to the cemetery for a flag line and military honors.  We are privileged to participate.

Tyjuan served in the United States Navy as “the youngest Aviation Apprentice stationed in the Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Three, at North Island Naval Air Station in Coronado, California. In his 10 months of service, he showed an unwavering commitment to his country and exemplified the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His absence will be deeply felt by his fellow sailors and all those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.”

Tyjuan was tragically killed in a predawn car crash.  He is survived by his parents, Shaunte and stepfather, Ralph Henry, Jr, and two brothers, Ralph and Shaun.  He is also survived by his father, Tyjuan Mayfield, Sr, and additional siblings Kimerra, Cameron, Denim and Tru Mayfield, as well as a many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this military veteran.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the church to the cemetery, approximately 4 miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.  For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
