We have been invited by the family of Steven Richard High, 76, to be present as he receives his military honors. We are privileged to do so.
Steve proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from April 1968 to April 1971. He served in Vietnam at Death Valley, Que Son Valley, Antenna Valley, Oklahoma, Hills, 37, 10, 41, 65, and 937 more affectionately known as Hamburger Hill. It was at Death Valley when his commanding officer was mortally wounded that Steve assumed the lead and called in air strikes leading to the beginning of the end of the battle. At Death Valley, he took on shrapnel that was never removed. He earned the Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal - with 2 stars, and Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.
After his military service, Steve worked in the banking industry, initially as a loan officer. He eventually started his loan and real estate brokerage firm, which he operated until he was 75 years old. He loved riding horses and playing golf.
Steve is survived by his wife, Margaret (Margie), his daughter, Mary-Sue, his son, Michael, three grandchildren, and two siblings, Michael High and Deborah Carter.

You do not have to be a veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the Ride Captain (RC). Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
