"It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the passing of Officer Edward “Eddie” Bautista, who died unexpectedly on July 10, 2025. Officer Bautista proudly served with the Fontana Police Department Badge #1125 since 2013, most proudly as a K9 handler, alongside his Police Service Dog Doc. Together, they worked countless hours tracking felony suspects, searching for missing persons, and keeping our community safe. Their teamwork was more than just a job—it was a bond that inspired everyone. They made a tremendous impact on our community."The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Officer Edward Bautista and the Fontana Police Department to participate in the funeral service of their loved one. It will be our honor and privilege to attend.
Officer Bautista knew he wanted to become a Police Officer at the age of 11. He was a Police Explorer with Redlands PD from 2010-2012. He became a Police Cadet with the Fontana Police Department in 2013, went on to become a Police Officer in March 2015, and earned a special assignment as K9 officer in 2019. End of Watch: Friday, July 10, 2025.
Much of his time was spent as a devoted K9 handler. Eddie shared a deep bond with his K9 partners and his unwavering commitment to public safety left a lasting impressing on both his fellow officers and the community he protected.
Eddie will be remembered for his professionalism and dedication as well as his warmth, positivity, and infectious smile. He was a beloved son, friend, and colleague who truly made a difference in the lives of many.
He is survived by his mother, also a law enforcement officer, many family members, his girlfriend, and his brothers and sisters in law enforcement. He also leaves behind his K9 partner, Doc.
