The family of Rebecca “Becky” Barajas Rice, 65, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to accompany their incredible wife, mom, and friend to her final resting place.  It is our privilege to fulfill their request.

Born in Los Angeles on July 15, 1959, Becky lived a life full of love, laughter, and generosity.  She spent her early life in South El Monte, California-a place she fondly referred to as her "hood" - with her parents, Julian and Lupe Barajas, and her brother, Anthony Barajas.

Becky spent the 80s and 90s as a 9-5 career woman, working in administration for Advanced Bionics, SC Edison, and Stanford University to name a few.  She met her husband, Scott Rice, in 1986, and they married on July 12, 1991, in San Dimas, CA. They later settled in Agua Dulce, CA, and by 1997, Scott and Becky had two young daughters, Carina and Veronica.  In 2003, Becky and Scott, her parents, and the girls moved to Tehachapi, where Becky lived until her passing.

A beloved servant of the community, Becky devoted almost two decades to the Bear Valley Springs and City of Tehachapi communities as a Police Dispatcher, administrative worker, and volunteer.  She especially enjoyed calling to check on the local seniors as part of her dispatch duties in BVS.

She cherished time with family and friends, loved crafting, and sharing her passion for essential oils. Becky happily retired on her 65th birthday, but sadly, was taken ill and enjoyed her last days with family and friends, still smiling.

Becky is survived by her loving husband, Scott Rice; her beloved daughters, Carina Motley and Veronica Ingersoll; her sons-in-law, Joshua Motley and Caleb Ingersoll; and her new granddaughter, Guinevere Ingersoll.  She now joins her parents and other cherished family members in eternal rest with her Savior, Jesus Christ.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this first responder.  For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the Becky and her family from the mortuary to the cemetery, approximately 18 miles.  Please see the timetable if you would like to participate.
