The family of Loren Franklin Harter,  a member of the Greatest Generation have invited the Patriot Guard to accompany Loren and attend for military honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey.  It is our honor to do so.

Loren was born 9 Nov 1924 and died 29 May 2020 in Alabama.

Loren served in the Army Air Corp from Nov 16,1942 to August 11,1945 with the 368th bomber Squadron.  Which, was one of the first units deployed to England in September of 1942. The 368th would conduct missions over Nazi Germany and Europe until the wars end April of 1945.  The 368th was a highly decorated unit with two Unit Citations among others.  Loren achieved the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the Ardennes Central Europe Rhineland and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medals. Air Medal 241 Hq. 1st Air Div 45 with 4 oak clusters.

After his service Loren worked in the Long Beach shipyards installing sonar during the 60’s and early 70’s. He enjoyed gardening and just tinkering around the house.  He especially enjoyed games on the computer and an occasional putt around the golf course.

Loren is survived by one Son Joe Smith, three Grand Sons, and three Great Grand Children.  One Sister Shirley along with many nieces and nephews.  Loren was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Mabbot Harter.

We will honor Loren Franklin Harter by keeping his memory alive.
