The family of George Reinhold Wester has invited the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR) to attend the Military Honors of their loved one as he makes his final journey. It will be our honor to do so.

George was born on 15 February 1946 in Stockholm, Sweden, and entered into Eternal Rest on 10 November 2020 at home in Temecula.

In 1952 the family immigrated to Canada and in 1956 to the U.S. where they would settle in Long Beach. George graduated from Wilson High School in Long Beach in 1964.

George proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1974 during the Vietnam War. George was a combat Construction Specialist (Demolition). After basic training, he was assigned to Wharton Barracks at Heilbronn, Germany. In 1971, George was assigned to Fort Dix, New Jersey where he was transferred to the Army Reserves. George was honorably discharged as a SP5.

Upon arriving in California, George was selected and served on the Army’s shooting team while in the Reserves, winning numerous competitions.

After the military, George worked as a weapons instructor, a reserve deputy sheriff, a security officer, and a long-haul truck driver.

George was best known for his love of photography which he enjoyed all his life. He used his photography skills in the Army and had the opportunity to work as a combat photographer in addition to his other duties. After the Army, he continued his interest in photography by opening his photography studio, Studio West, in Fountain Valley. After retirement, George for almost twenty years captured many events at the Saint Martha Catholic Parish in Murrieta.

Along with photography, George loved to travel, woodworking, and target shooting.

George is survived by his wife Annette, his three children Lauri Ann, George Eric, and Mikael. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying the hero and his family from the Mortuary to his final resting place. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. For those who would rather go directly to the cemetery, we will meet you there.
