The family of Douglas H. Grindstaff, age 87, has invited the PGR to be present to honor their Hero as he receives his Full Military Honors, we are honored to join in that effort.

Doug was born on April 08, 1934, and passed away quietly July 7, 2018. Doug was the youngest of five boys, the sons of Forrest Clinton Grindstaff and Edna Hill Grindstaff. At the time of his passing, he and his wife, Marcia were living the retiree's life in Peoria, Arizona

Douglas H. Grindstaff enlisted in the United States Army to serve his country during the Korean War. He served 1950-1952 and was honorably discharged at the conclusion  of his service as an E-4, Sergeant. He was assigned to the 40th Infantry Div., 223rd Infantry, (Co “B”. 3rd Plt. 1st Bn., 223 Regimental Command Team) during the Korean Conflict. He was most proud of his Combat Infantryman Badge  (CIB), and additionally displayed in his shadow box medals appropriate for his service to the America, South Korea, and the United Nations.

After serving his country, Doug spent his career in the Motion Picture and Television Industry. He was a sound editor, sound designer, sound effects creator, and headed up several studio sound departments. Nominated 14 times for Primetime Emmy Awards , winning five, and was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Motion Picture Sound Editors Guild. He gave back to his  community by teaching film production at Cal Arts. He is also known for technical innovations that he developed along with his son, Chuck Grindstaff, our family contact. If you were wondering who came up with all the original Star Trek TV series sound effects, it was our hero Doug Grindstaff.

Mr. Grindstaff  is survived by his wife Marcia, children Marla Martinson, Chuck Grindstaff, and Dan Grindstaff. Marcia's children include Dean Slawson, Felicia Grady, and Eli Slawson. In addition, There are 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren  (with more on the way).

1210 - Est Flag Line for arrival of  Hero in family vehicle. (This may include a  Missing Man accompanying a coach from mortuary to committal location all within the confines of Forest Lawn)

1220 – Est KSU to committal site.

1230 - Est Flag Line for Hero's Full Military Honors and PGR presentation graveside.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. Everyone is welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.
