The family of LtCol Norman Arthur Kidd, age 87, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to attend his final honors, we would be honored to do so.

LtCol Kidd enlisted in the US Air Force in 1954 and served 27 years until his retirement in 1981.  During this time he was assigned as a navigator aboard the Spectre Gun Ships that were based out of Thailand and flew many missions over Cambodia and Vietnam. He was the recipient of many medals and awards for an illustrious career, some of these were Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters, and many others.

After retiring from the Air Force, Norman returned to school to pursue a degree in computer science, as he wanted to be thoroughly familiar with all the technology changes that had taken place in recent years.  He didn't, however, go back to work, he enjoyed his retirement helping to care for his parents and playing with his grandchildren.

His family was the most important thing in Norman's life, however he did love football, having played in high school himself.  He was a very loyal Washington Redkins fan, and not just in the good years.  He grew up in Virginia and was always faithful to his team. Norman also was very supportive of the military and veterans causes.  He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

Norman is preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy who passed in 2017 and his son Gary, also a Veteran, who passed in 2004, he is survived by son Terry a Veteran, son Mark and daughter Heather, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

NOTE: This mission posting is to facilitate your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the exemplary career in the US Air Force of LtCol Kidd, there will be a Fly Over in his honor.
