Jesus Montoya Dominguez, 97, USN, WWII, Whittier/RNC - 08 FEB
« on: February 04, 2022, 02:08:46 AM »
The family of Jesus Montoya Dominguez, age 97, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to pay Honors to this American Hero. It will be our Honor to do so.

Jesus was a WWII Hero who did everything he could to serve his Country. After finishing school, Jesus joined the United States Navy. He served proudly from April 3, 1943 - to February 21, 1946 with an Honorable Discharge.

While in the Navy, Jesus served aboard two ships. He served on the USS White Plains and the USS Fanshaw Bay (CVE-70). Both ships at that time were running hard and heavy in the war since they were Casa Blanca Class Aircraft Carriers.  Both ships operated primarily in the Mariana Islands and the Palau Islands. They had numerous fire fights with the Imperial Japanese during "Operation Forager". They sustained multiple hits on them from both torpedo bombers, and submarines.

Jesus received his Honorable Discharge at the rank of S1C (Specialist 1st Class).  He received the following medals: Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal, with 1 Silver Star; Victory Service Medal; WWII Philippines Liberation Medal w/2 Stars; and, a Presidential Unit Citation with 1 Star.

After his service, Jesus became a commercial painter for the next 35 years. Jesus said he always lived a good life and was blessed with his family.

Jesus is survived by his wife. Gloria; his son, Jess; 3 daughters: Carol, Pat, and Rose; 11 Grandchildren; and, 29 Great-grandchildren.

Jesus Christ, and the American Soldier:
One died for your soul, the other one died for your freedom.

If this will be your first mission go to the initial staging area and you will be briefed there by the R/C (Ride Captain).  Dress for motorcycle riding or dress casually if you are driving a cage (car).  Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can.  Please ride/drive safely.

Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and respect for our Heroes. No talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Remember, cemeteries are hallowed ground. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we are honoring.
