The family of Joseph Toshio Miyahara, age 50, has invited the Patriot Guard Riders to be present to honor their Hero for his service to his country. It will be our privilege to do so.
Joe Passed away at 50 years old as a result of injuries he received in a motorcycle accident in October, 2019. He was completely paralyzed from the accident and eventually passed away from the resulting effects.
Joe joined the Marine Corps on Dec. 11th. 1990 & he was honorably discharged on Dec. 10th. 1994. His rank at time of discharge was a corporal. While in the Corps, he served 2 tours in Desert Storm. Joe was awarded the purple heart, the bronze star, expert rifleman, & good conduct medals.
Joe worked at Chino State Prison for several years. He also worked as a real estate broker selling & managing property. He also worked as an HR Assistant at Scripps Institute of Oceanography in which he was responsible for Payroll and Crew Travel Itineraries.
Joe had several hobbies, playing golf, playing poker, shooting guns with friends at the local gun range. Before his accident he loved to travel. Liked to plan big trips to the east coast & Hawaii.
Joe was an amazing and honorable man. He was silly yet compassionate, stubborn yet loving. Although often quiet, Joe fought for the things he loved in his life and wore his emotions on his sleeve. Joe was courageous in his endeavors and loved fiercely and in the best way he knew how.
He shared his heart with everyone and was always willing to give up the shirt off his back. As a result, he built unbreakable friendships near and far throughout his life that fostered lifelong connections; these impermeable bonds made friends into family members.
He treasured his wife and the family they built together with all that he had. From their marriage came a glowing family tree, one that his bright, loving soul will now shine down on.
Joe was survived by his mother & Dad, Fred & Patricia. His wife Lisa, & 3 children Michael, Jenna and Tyler, & one granddaughter Nola who was born on the very day that he passed away.
NOTE: This mission posting facilitates your voluntary participation in honoring this Military Veteran. For those interested, and all PGR members are welcome, we will be accompanying our hero and his family from the family home to his final resting place, approx 21 miles. Please see the timetable if you would like to participate. We will meet you there for those who would rather go directly to the cemetery.

You do not have to be a Veteran or a motorcycle rider to attend this mission. All PGR members are welcome. We encourage those who do not ride to attend in your car. If this is your first mission, go to the initial staging area, and you will be briefed by the R/C (Ride Captain). Dress for motorcycle riding or wear casual attire while driving a cage (car). Please feel free to attend any portion of this mission you can. Please ride/drive safely.
Remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent with honor and respect for our Heroes—no talking, smoking, or cell phone use during the flag line or service. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Show respect to all who are there, not just the ones we honor.
